Man attacked and beaten in Passaic

A man from the Dominican Republic is in the hospital after a group of men attacked him on Myrtle Avenue late Saturday night.

The full extent of his injuries is unknown but doctors say he may require surgery to repair the damage.

The family says that he was attacked coming home by four men who beat him and left him for dead. Fortunately, he was able to stumble home and call for help.

The family believes that he was picked at random as a part of a gang initiation.

Residents in the area say that there have been less police patrols and an increase in gang activity.
