Sen. Frank Lautenberg says lymphoma 'gone'

(AP) - U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg says he'scancer-free.

Lautenberg made the announcement Saturday at the Garden StateEquality Legends Dinner in Maplewood. The 86-year-old Democrat toldthe gay rights group that his doctor told him on Friday "it's goneFrank."

The Senate's oldest member was hospitalized Feb. 15 afterfalling at his New Jersey home. He was treated for a bleedingulcer, and it was announced Feb. 19 that B-cell lymphoma was foundin his stomach.

Lautenberg began chemotherapy treatment and returned to theSenate on March 2.
