Ticket blitz has Elizabeth neighborhood fuming

Residents in one neighborhood in Elizabeth say they are livid over a ticket blitz by police. Residents parked on Grand Street say they woke up to notice the tickets on their cars. The tickets spanned four blocks from Elmora Avenue to Cherry Street, where parking meters begin. According to Yesenia Vega, signs on her block went up yesterday, while signs on other blocks indicate no parking from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.

Police say they've started enforcing an ordinance that's been on the books for years to ease traffic congestion. Grand Street only allows for parking on one side. Elizabeth police say they're re-evaluating the policy on streets where there's only one-side parking.
