10-year-old Jersey City boy doused in gasoline

Police say an angry man in Jersey City was motivated by revenge when he dumped gasoline on a 10-year-old boy.

They say that the attacker, Tracy Ferguson, of Newark, was angry because another man had started to date his ex-girlfriend. When he went after the man with gasoline, cops say he covered the man's son with fuel as well.

Jersey City Police Chief Thomas Comui says that after Ferguson threw gas on the boy and his dad, he tried to set them on fire with road flares. Chief Comui says that without the police department's quick response, the victims of the attack could have been killed.

The boy and his father were taken to the hospital. The boy received superficial burns from the gasoline, but both are expected to recover.
