Water restrictions issued in Monmouth County

New Jersey American Water Company has issued a mandatory water restriction to its customers in Monmouth County due to severely dry conditions and increased consumption.

The company is asking customers to discontinue outdoor water use such as lawn watering and car washing, and non-essential indoor water use.

"This extended period of high heat and little rainfall combined with the holiday weekend has increased water demand in Monmouth County to extremely high levels," said Steven Tambini, New Jersey American Water's vice president of operations in a release to customers. "New Jersey American Water appreciates our customers' compliance with these water restrictions as we work to maintain high quality water service during this period."

New Jersey American Water Company says it will notify customers when normal water use can resume.
