2 water main breaks shut down roads in Bergen County

Two water main breaks have forced authorities to shut down roads in Bergen County.

A break in Hackensack closed down Essex Street between Parkway and First streets while crews worked to repair the 8-inch water main. Seventy-five customers have been without water since this morning.

Utility crews are also working to repair a 24-inch water main break in Leonia. The main ruptured just outside Overpeck Park on Fort Lee Road. No customers were affected by the Leonia break.

United Water officials say they expect to have the lines repaired by this evening.

Drivers can expect heavy delays in the area as crews work to repair the lines and roadways.
