Heat wave continues in the Garden State
There's no relief anytime soon for the heat that's been baking the Garden State.
News 12 New Jersey meteorologist James Gregorio says temperatures will reach the upper 90s in most parts of the state.
The temperature hit the 103-degree mark at Newark Liberty Airport around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, breaking the previous record of 102 set in 1999.
A heat advisory has been posted for Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson, Union, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Ocean, Somerset, Sussex, Warren and Western Monmouth counties until 6 p.m. tonight.
An excessive heat warning has been issued for Mercer County and parts of southern New Jersey until 8 p.m. tonight.
With temperatures climbing to near triple digits, air quality advisories are in effect today. Water use restrictions have also been issued in Monmouth County and parts of Ocean County.
