Fire rips through commercial building in Manalapan

A fire tore though a commercial strip mall in Manalapan early this morning.

Firefighters received the call around 3:30 a.m. this morning. The first arriving units found heavy fire in the Pear Tree Plaza on Route 33.

Manalapan Township Fire Company Chief Ryan Perrone tells News 12 New Jersey 15 fire companies responded to the blaze. Six water tankers were also requested to the scene after firefighters could not get sufficient water flow from the single hydrant accessible to the building.

Authorities shut down Route 33 eastbound while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported and investigators are working to determine what caused the blaze.
