Sentencing in Newark schoolyard murders taking place
(AP) - The first defendant convicted in the NewJersey schoolyard slayings faces sentencing Thursday.
Rodolfo Godinez is scheduled to appear in courtin Newark.
The 27-year-old immigrant from Nicaragua was convicted in May ofmurder, robbery and weapons offenses stemming from the August 2007slayings of three friends.
The murders of Dashon Harvey, Terrance Aeriel and IofemiHightower and the shooting and stabbing of afourth victim stunned New Jersey's largest city.
Godinez was convicted even though he was not linked to the gunused to shoot the three victims execution-style.
Five other defendants are awaiting trial.
