Another murder in Ocean County has residents on edge

Residents living in Berkley Township are concerned over the increasing number of murders in the area. A murder Sunday night in Berkley has brought this year's total to nine murders, which is three times the number in all of last year. That has residents wondering why the murder rate has jumped so much this year.

Thomas Kelaher, the county prosecutor, attributes the spike to a growing population. He's also quick to reassure the public that there's no need for worry. He says that the murders weren't the result of predators out on the street, but instead involved people who had some kind of relationship that went bad.

Even so, some people say they can't help but worry. One resident says she plans on keeping her eyes open and her wits about her because you never know.
