Redevelopment plan in Mercer County may move the Trenton Farmers Market

A Mercer County redevelopment plan could ask the Trenton Farmers Market in Lawrence to change locations.

The farmers market is located in an area called Mercer Crossing, where the towns of Ewing, Trenton and Lawrence meet. The county and the state brought in the Urban Land Institute, a non-profit Washington-based group that is coming up with a plan for Mercer Crossing. The plan includes moving the market to a nearby abandoned building.

Some farmers are afraid moving the mini-mall with its 40 businesses would confuse customers. Business owners say changing locations might complicate parking situations and accessibility for customers.

If the Trenton Farmers Market is asked to move, its Board of Trustees must first approve the plan.
