Court rules North Haledon can't pull its students out of Manchester Regional H.S.

The State Supreme Court has ruled that the borough of North Haledon cannot withdraw its students from Manchester Regional High School.

For years, North Haledon has wanted to remove its students from Manchester because its residents pay significantly more per student than taxpayers in Haledon or Prospect Park.

But the State Supreme Court says if North Haledon's mostly white students left Manchester, it would hurt the school's racial and ethnic balance.

However, the court wants the Commission of Education to work with the three towns to come up with a solution to funding inequities.
