Police in Ocean Township need help tracking down a pair of con artists

Police in Ocean Township need help tracking down a pair of con artists Wednesday.

Police say one of the con artists started chatting with a local woman at Provident Bank on Route 35. The suspect's partner approached the two and said he found a bag with $1,000 bills inside. He then said he would split the money if the woman could break the $1,000 bills into smaller denominations.

According to authorities, the female victim withdrew more than $1,000 in small bills from the bank. When she went inside Value City at the Seaview Square Shopping Center to supposedly transfer the money by recording serial numbers, the suspects fled with her money.

Anyone with information should call the Ocean Township police.
