Proposed plans for Helmsley property in Fort Lee include affordable homes

Proposed plans for the Helmsley property in Fort Lee include affordable housing, new storefronts and office space.

The property is located on Lemoine Avenue, between Main Street and Bruce Reynolds Boulevard. A number of companies were interested in building on the 16 acres next to the George Washington Bridge, but Town and Country has been designated as the developer.

An attorney for Town and Country says the developers have been working with borough officials to find a plan that is best for the area. The executive director of the Fort Lee Housing Authority says she is looking forward to the project because it must include affordable homes.

Attorneys representing the developer say they plan to file an application for the project within the next 30 days.
