Freehold school officials say construction will be finished by first day of school

The construction at many of the Freehold schools has many parents and students wondering if their schools will be ready for the first day of school. Freehold school district officials admit there will be some cramming, but the construction at the schools will be finished by September.

Construction sites were common at many schools in Freehold this summer as additions were added to all elementary and middle schools. Some schools received roof replacements. Crews worked to construct a new school as well.

Superintendent of Freehold schools says when the students arrive to their schools on the Tuesday after Labor Day all of the dumpsters and roofing materials will be gone.

The state's educational funding act helped Freehold Township pay for approximately 30 percent of the cost of the projects, which totaled $32 million.
