Several Newark police officers being investigated for corruption

Several Newark police officers are being investigated for corruption. Newark's police director says the case could go before a grand jury before the end of the week.

According to Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose, at least a six officers are being investigated for possibly reselling confiscated drugs and guns. Ambrose says it is just a probe of the department and no one has been charged or indicted at this time.

The head of the police union sent a letter to the attorney general and police director claiming some of the officers targeted had been denied their rights. Ambrose says he knows of no hard hand tactics used in this case.
