Security still high at Prudential Building in Newark since it was named terror target

It has been one month since the terror threat warning was raised to high in five New Jersey counties, but the police presence at the Prudential Building in Newark continues to remain at an all-time high since it was named as a potential terror target.

The level was raised when federal officials announced that terrorists might target the Prudential Building. Since then, every vehicle entering the parking garage is searched and a concrete barrier was placed in front of the building to keep suspicious automobiles from getting too close. Another new security measure implemented was that all visitors to the building must first pass though a metal detector.

Robert DeFillippo of Prudential Financial feels the company has taken all the necessary steps to make the building safe. But some people say even with the extra security they still don't feel safe. The high alert and extra security is expected to stay in place in northern New Jersey through the presidential election in November.
