New ordinance introduced to control lawn maintenance for Lakewood residents

Many Lakewood residents hope unmowed and trash-filled lawns will be seen no more now that the town has targeted at least two dozen homes in need of maintenance in the area.

A new ordinance by the town has given the owners seven days to clean up their lawns, a significant difference from the 60 - 90 day period residents normally receive to maintain their residence. Owners seem to be complying since they face fines and possibly having a lien put on their property.

Although officials believe the problem is insignificant, they feel that maintenance of the property will affect its overall value.
