Young boy killed by hit-and-run driver in Hasbrouck Heights

A young boy was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Hasbrouck Heights Friday afternoon. Police caught up with the driver a short time later in Little Ferry. Police say the boy was crossing the Boulevard at the corner of Williams Avenue with his mother when a sports utility vehicle hit him. Business owner Claudia Kowalski ran outside her store when she heard the boy's mother screaming. The boy was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. No information was immediately available about the driver.
