Many residents in Woodcliff Lake against the building of a hotel

Many residents in Woodcliff Lake are against the building of a new hotel in their small community.

Developers want to build an upscale Sierra Suites hotel, which is a product of Lodgeworks on the land located at the corner of Chestnut Ridge Road and Glen Avenue. The extended stay hotel would cater to neighboring businesses and have 143 rooms.

The president of the local Civic Association says the hotel is not what the town needs. She suggests building a medical arts building or a child care facility on the property instead.

The towns zoning board will decide whether or not the hotel can be built on that site. The developer has to prove the property is suitable for the future hotel.

The town will vote Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Borough Hall.
