Hopewell Township cops searching for 'statuesque' woman

Hopewell Township police are dealing with an unusual kidnapping case the abduction of a 6-foot, 700-pound bronze sculpture shaped like a woman.

The sculpture was stolen from the front lawn of its creators home on River Road in Titusville. Gyuri Hollosy, who sculpted the piece, says the statue is worth approximately $20,000. Despite the artworks value, Hollosy says he is most worried about the possibility of his art being destroyed by the abductors. Hollosy says he feels helpless over the theft.

Police are looking into the possibility that the statue was stolen as part of a college prank. They have asked local colleges and universities to be on the lookout for anything that might lead to the artworks return.

Hopewell Township police are asking anyone with information about the stolen piece to call them at (609) 737-3100 ext. 581. According to Hollosy, he will not press charges if the kidnappers return the item.
