Wall Twp. teen dies from meningitis; community attends meeting on disease

A Wall Township family is mourning the loss of their 13-year-old son David Pasick who died from meningitis Monday. Many parents in the community attended a meeting at the Wall Intermediate School Tuesday to find out if their children are at risk.

Health experts from the school and the county were on hand at the meeting to answer questions about the deadly disease. Nearly all of the experts stressed that while it is possible to pass the disease through oral secretions, it is very rare for someone to get meningitis that way. Officials say that they are contacting anyone who could have had that type of contact with Pasick.

Pasick was an eighth grader at Wall Intermediate School. The boys parents say he came down with a fever Sunday night. The schools superintendent described him as a vibrant student always involved in activities.
