First Lady Laura Bush to attend campaign rally in Hamilton Township

First Lady Laura Bush will be attending a campaign rally Thursday in Hamilton Township.

The rally is being held at the Colonial Firehouse on Kuser Road. Organizers of the rally were asked by the campaign to turn out 1,000 supporters. Officials at the Mercer County Republican headquarters say the tickets are sold out and the White House is printing up 400 more.

This is the first event in New Jersey by the Bush/Cheney team that is not a fundraiser. A poll released earlier in the week showed Senator John Kerrys lead in New Jersey was slipping a few points. Ingrid Reed of the Eagleton Institute believes Republicans want to keep up the momentum. Reed says if there is a bump in the polls for President Bush after the visit by the First Lady, New Jersey might see more visits before the election.
