First lady Laura Bush gives speech at campaign rally in Hamilton Township

First lady Laura Bush spoke to 1,200 Republicans Thursday in Hamilton Township. This is the first timeNew Jersey hosted a campaign rally for a presidential candidate.

Mrs. Bush attended the event at the Colonial Firehouse on Kuser Road to rally support for her husband as the election nears. GOP officials say the first lady wants to appeal to voters who are undecided.

Those who attended the rally say that the first lady spoke beautifully and her speech was inspiring. During her speech, Mrs. Bush mentioned that New Jersey is leading the region in job creation with 5,700 new jobs in the last year.

Mrs. Bush\222s visit to the Garden State coincides with polls that put President Bush four points up on challenger John Kerry in New Jersey.
