Paterson police try to trace young girl's 911 call

Paterson police are combing Sparrow Street and others that sound like Sparrow trying to trace a young girl who called 911 Tuesday night.

According to the 911 tapes, the girl called herself Jessica and said she was 4 years old. She gave police an address on Sparrow Street in Paterson, but police say that address does not exist. Authorities say Jessica hung up too soon for them to track her down.

Police say Jessica is hard to hear on the tapes but did manage to tell a 911 police dispatcher that her mother had been hit and was not breathing. They also say the girl mentioned a teachers name.

Police officials think Jessica was calling from a cell phone. They are working with a cell phone company to try and track down the number she was calling from.
