Local assemblyman has tax relief plan for Ocean Grove residents

Many homeowners in Ocean Grove say last years property revaluation doubled and even tripled their taxes. One local assemblyman unveiled a package of bills Wednesday aimed at easing the pain spawned by the revaluation.

Assemblyman Sean Kean (R-District 11) drafted the Revaluation Relief Act. He says it is designed to help people who can no longer afford to live in Ocean Grove because of their property tax increase.

One of the bills would call for the property tax increase to be phased in over five years. Another bill would allow homeowners to pay the property tax increase when they sell their house.

Many residents say the bill package is very good for the community. Kean will formally introduce it on October 7.
