Local Muslim organizations in Passaic County urging American Muslims to vote

Local Muslim organizations in Passaic County are urging American Muslims to vote in this years election.

Mohamed ElFilali, who runs the outreach program at the Islamic Center in Paterson, says it is every American Muslims duty to vote. He says nothing can change unless people are determined and willing to make change happen.

The Arab-American Civic Association has set up voter registration tables at local mosques. The association also provides buses for voters to polling places on Election Day. The head of the association says issues such as civil rights and the Patriot Act should encourage more participation. He also says it doesnt matter how Muslims vote, just as along as they get out and vote.

The deadline to register to vote is October 4.
