Emergency services temporarily restored to North and West wards in Trenton
The West Ward Firehouse is now the temporary home for EMS ambulances in the area, which makes residents of the Trenton neighborhood and the NAACP very pleased.
When the Pennington Avenue fire station, Old Engine 5, closed, the Emergency Service Ambulance headquarters moved away from the North Ward to Liberty Street, which caused major concerns for North Ward residents. The move increased response time for the ambulances that now had to drive across town to reach an emergency area in North Ward.
After a statement issued by the NAACP explaining that fact, city officials moved the EMS service to the West Ward Firehouse Friday, closer to Old Engine 5 and closer to its residents in need of emergency service.
The West Ward Firehouse is a temporary location for the ambulance headquarters while officials search for a permanent site.
