Infant killed in Trenton apartment fire, five other people injured

An infant was killed and five other people were injured in a Trenton apartment fire Wednesday.

The two-story apartment building is located on South Broad Street across from the local fire department. Fire officials say the 1-year-old boy was overcome by smoke in his crib.

Fire officials say the flames broke out in the rear of the building on the first floor. They also say someone in the house tried to extinguish the fire before notifying the fire department.

Red Cross officials are helping the families who are without a home. Fire and police officials are still investigating how the blaze started.
