One-year anniversary of Staten Island Ferry crash hits home in Middletown

Karen Cicero can only reminisce about her brother-in-law Frank Sullivan, one of the two Middletown residents who died in the Staten Island Ferry crash a year ago today.

Cicero's sister Lisa Sullivan tries to cope every day with the loss of her husband Frank. The two would have celebrated their 21st anniversary next month. Lisa's other sister Patricia wants some questions answered concerning the fate of the 11 victims of the crash, including Sullivan and John Healy, also of Middletown.

Two men face criminal charges because of the ferry crash. The pilot, Richard Smith, faces more than 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter, and the Ferry's captain, Michael Gansas of Hazlet, is charged with lying to investigators.
