New type of Halloween hayride in Old Bridge features monster trucks

(10/17/04) OLD BRIDGE - Haunted hayrides are popular at Halloween time in New Jersey, but a different type of hayride promises to crush the competition this year.

Instead of the usual tractor pulling a cart through haunted woods, a new attraction in Old Bridge uses giant monster trucks pulling riders through a haunted junkyard called "The Lost Speedway" as motorcycle stunt performers jump over the trucks.

The new 25-minute ride is geared towards kids ages 5-11 because organizers want to make the attraction more exciting than scary. Tickets are $10 a person, and the monster truck rides run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. through Halloween.

A haunted walkthrough was also set up in a separate part of the park for older children and adults who want a scare.
