Gas tanker crash closes Route 9 in Sayreville

A gas tanker crash on Route 9 gave commuters headaches Wednesday morning.

A truck carrying 9,000 gallons of gasoline overturned and burst into flames in Sayreville Tuesday night. Emergency crews used foam to dose the flames and contain the vapors.

The driver escaped injury.Route 9 is closed between Bordentown Avenue and Ernstin Roadwhile workers try to clean up the foam. It could take until Wednesday afternoon before traffic is moving again.
