Take Back the Night vigil held at Drew University for sexual assault awareness

(10/24/04) MADISON - Students at Drew University capped off sexual assault awareness week by holding a candlelight vigil march Sunday night across campus, trying to light up some of the dark spots.

Students say one in every four women and one in every seven men experience some sort of sexual violence during their college career. Their Take Back the Night march was meant to show that some poorly lit areas on campus that could be dangerous for people to walk through at night.

The men who attended the Take Back the Night event did not join the women for the candlelight march. Instead, they held their own vigil to talk about how they could educate other men about sexual violence.
