Attorney general says New Jersey ready for large voter turnout

(10/29/04) TRENTON Attorney General Peter Harvey says New Jersey is fully prepared to handle any problems arising from a large voter turnout on Election Day.

According to Harvey, there are 463,000 new voters that have registered in the state. The attorney general says voters may encounter some problems if they did not register in time to make it on the voting rolls. If problems are encountered, Harvey says the state is going to have 500 deputy attorneys general dispersed throughout New Jerseys 21 counties.

The attorney general says voters can expect long lines at the polls because of the large projected turnout. However, he urges voters to be patient and to think about other times theyve waited on line in restaurants or for tickets.
