Large turnout ups voting problems in Bergen, Passaic counties
(11/02/04) PATERSON Some voters in Bergen and Passaic counties encountered problems when they arrived at the polls on Election Day.
According to election officials, some people had a less than smooth voting experience because they didnt register in time or werent aware their registrations needed to be renewed. Some of those experiencing difficulties and discrepancies had to go in front of a judge to get the voting green light.
While some potential voters went through the voting problem procedures, others said they simply didnt have the time to confer with a lawyer and see a judge. Election officials say these types of Election Day problems are normal. They also say the number of issues were up due to increased voter turnout.
