Republicans, Dems contemplate post-McGreevey politics in New Jersey

(11/08/04) TRENTON Both Republicans and Democrats are beginning to look toward New Jerseys political future as Governor Jim McGreevey (D-NJ) prepares to step down.

Some state Democrats say although the party has been strong during the period after McGreeveys resignation, they are looking forward to moving on after State Senate President Richard Codey (D) takes office. However, many state Republicans say the governor has let the people of New Jersey down. A spokesperson for the Republicans says residents were fed up with the style of McGreeveys policies.

No matter what their view, both Democrats and Republicans say they are going to try to work with Codey in order to enact lasting reforms for the people of New Jersey.
