Investigation continues into why two Union Township students were run over

Police are investigating why a woman allegedly ran over two Union Township High School students and tried to hit two others with her car Monday night.

The four students, who were all girls, say a classmates mother tried to run them down. Two of the girls were injured. Parents say the two other girls were pushed out of the path of the moving car by a school security guard. Witnesses say the womans daughter got out of the car swinging a metal bar and struck a security guard.

While police are still investigating the incident, some parents say the mother may be jealous because some of the girls are basketball players with college scholarships. Some parents also say one of the injured girls was involved in an altercation at school Monday morning.

Union Township police are holding the two suspects, the mother and daughter. They will not release any information until the investigation is complete.
