Walkway of Honor salutes bravery of East Hanover veterans

(11/11/04) EAST HANOVER Many New Jersey residents who fought for the United States were honored on Veterans Day with the unveiling of an East Hanover memorial.

The Walkway of Honor was officially dedicated in front of many veterans and their relatives. Each brick on the walkway, which took five years to complete, is engraved with the name of an East Hanover resident who fought to defend America. The projects lengthy construction time was caused by several engineering and logistical problems.

Vets in attendance say they are sad some of those they fought with have passed away during the time between the walkways inception and completion. However, they also say they are happy to finally have a monument that salutes the bravery of East Hanover residents who defended the country.
