Senate President Dick Codey will serve as acting New Jersey Governor beginning Tuesday.

When Codey takes office he will face a $4-billion budget deficit. One issue Codey says he would like to focus on is stem cell research. He would also like to find extra funding for road and transit projects and also revamp the states mental health system.

Senator Codey hasnt declared whether he will run for governor in 2005. One person that may keep him from seeking four more years is Senator Joe Corzine.
