De La Roche facing mayoral mutiny by fellow Mt. Olive Democrats

Some Democratic members of the Mount Olive Town Council are attempting to oust Mayor Richard De La Roche, a fellow Democrat, from office.

Council members Jim Buell and Colleen Labow filed a petition early Monday morning to have De La Roche recalled. Both members cite the mayors lack of leadership and his inability to be prepared for meetings as reasons for their recall request. According to some of his opponents, De La Roche looks confused and befuddled at meetings.

De La Roche says the recall effort is no surprise. According to the mayor, rumors of his recall have been floating around before he was sworn in less than a year ago. The Mt. Olive leader is chalking the attempts of his fellow Democrats up to dirty politics.

In order to get a vote on De La Roches recall, petitioners need to get 3,700 signatures in 160 days.
