Discovery of four bodies in Newark sparks murder investigation

(11/27/04) NEWARK - A gruesome discovery by a passerby Friday morning has set off a murder investigation in Newark.

The bodies of four individuals were found in an empty lot on Ludlow Street near St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Newark. Police have identified the three men as 32-year-old Camilo Reyes and two brothers -- Kyhron Ward, 26, and 24-year-old Jarmeil Ward. They say the fourth person, a woman, was 34-year-old Carmen Estronza. All four victims were from Newark.

According to investigators, the bodies were wrapped in black plastic bags. Authorities say the victims were shot to death.

As the investigation continues, cops are now trying to determine if the murders occurred at the same location where the bodies were found or if the individuals were dumped at the lot. A spokesperson for the Newark Police Department says they have not yet determined a motive for the killings.
