Teachers receive racist cards at Elizabeth elementary school

(11/29/04) ELIZABETH Employees and officials at an Elizabeth elementary school are in shock after three African-American teachers received cards containing racist statements.

The cards, received by two men and one woman at Peterstown School Number 3, have sparked a multi-agency investigation aimed at finding their author. Police say they dont know if a child or an adult wrote the racist items. According to a teacher not involved in the incident, the act is surprising considering Peterstowns ethnically diverse student body.

The names of the three teachers targeted have not been released. Police say the district has not had any similar problems in the past.
