NJ resident Kerik gets hometown support for Homeland Security job

Colleagues and residents say they are sure Franklin Lakes resident Bernard Kerik will do an excellent job as Americas next head of the Homeland Security Department.

Paterson Sheriff Jerry Speziale, who was partners with Kerik in the NYPD, says the former New York City police commissioners management of emergency teams during the September 11th attacks prepared him well for his possible future job. Speziale says Kerik will take the position very seriously and lead by example. Many residents in Franklin Lakes echo those sentiments about their neighbor.

Although Kerik was tapped by President Bush to be the Homeland Security head, his appointment still needs to be confirmed by the Senate. Kerik was born in Newark and raised in Paterson before eventually settling in Franklin Lakes.
