Judge rules hotel in Union City must close due to building code violations

Tenants of the Central Hotel in Union City are being pushed out the door after a judge ruled Tuesday that it must close.

State inspectors say the building violates several codes. However, the owner of the hotel went to court to try to get a judge to allow the state to keep it open. The judge ruled that it must be shut down.

Many tenants say they can not afford to live anywhere else and fear they will be left out in the streets. The mayor of Union City has set up a temporary housing site for those tenants until they find a permanent place to live.
