Rowdy sports parents targeted in new Nutley code of conduct

(12/08/04) NUTLEY A new code of conduct has been implemented in the town of Nutley to ensure both parents and kids behave at youth sporting events.

Parents who dont conduct themselves appropriately in the stands will now be hurting their children, according to a parks department official. The rowdy parent will receive a verbal warning for the first offense and a written warning for the second incident. The third offense will result in a suspension for both the parent and their child.

Those involved with the new code say it will be effective because parents dont want to do anything that will negatively affect their childs welfare. They also say the new rule was instituted after an incident in another township resulted in a child being struck by an adult at an event.
