Religious Christmas music is under fire in Maplewood

The school board in Maplewood has come under fire for its policy of banning religious Christmas music.

The brass ensemble of Columbia High School in Maplewood is barred from playing music with a religious theme, including instrumental music. School officials say it has been the policy for almost 10 years.

Critics of the policy say the secular has replaced the sacred. They add they understand what the school administration is trying to do, but believe it has gone too far to be politically correct.
