Students at Ramapo College accuse Codey of meddling in school affairs

(12/13/04) MAHWAH Some students at Ramapo College in Mahwah have a message for Acting Governor Dick Codey stay out of our affairs.

Members of the student government association have started a petition drive to stop what they say is Codeys influence in the colleges search for a new president. One senior at the college says the acting governor wants the school to appoint Senator Joe Doria to the post. Although Doria was one of the original 90 candidates for the position, his name was dropped from the list when it was pared down to five people.

Codey denies any meddling in the schools search for a new leader. According to the acting governor, he had one conversation with a trustee regarding help on her reappointment. He says he had no other conversations and also says he has no plans to discuss the matter with school officials.
