NJ residents stock up on snow clearing supplies for first snowfall this winter

(12/26/04) OLD BRIDGE - Many New Jersey residents prepared for the first snowfall of the winter season by picking up supplies from their local department stores on Sunday.

Snow is expected to fall across the state from Sunday evening through Monday. Department store employees urge folks to get their supplies early so they won't get caught without them during the snowstorm. Workers also tell customers to test their older equipment before they use it this year.

Bags of rock salt, shovels and snow blowers were some of the more popular items flying off the shelves before the snow fell.

Salt, sand and plow crew across the Garden State stepped into action as the first flakes fell to ensure a safer Monday morning work commute for drivers. They say roads will not be as crowded because most schools across the state are not in session for winter break.
