Fire destroys Advisors Mortgage Group Company building in Shrewsbury

(12/26/04) SHREWSBURY - An early morning fire destroyed the Advisors Mortgage Group Company building in Shrewsbury on Sunday.

It took fire crews from at least seven surrounding towns almost four hours to extinguish the blaze at 701 Shrewsbury Avenue at the corner of Gilbert Street South.

Shrewsbury Fire Chief Ed Magenheimer says the fire caused extensive water and smoke damage to the building. Business owners were too distraught to speak with News 12 New Jersey, but they were allowed to go inside to salvage whatever items that were not torched by the fire.

Fire officials say no one was inside the building at the time. One fireman at the scene was treated for smoke inhalation and high blood pressure.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say they do not suspect foul play.
