Police in Clifton searching for motive behind apparent double murder-suicide
(12/27/04) CLIFTON Police in Clifton are trying to figure out why a 20-year-old man possibly stabbed his mother, strangled his grandmother and then stabbed himself in the heart.
According to authorities, Marquis Wade committed the double homicide and then took his own life in the days just before Christmas. Police say Wade stabbed Madelene Wade in the head repeatedly before strangling Edna Ward. Investigators also say evidence from the medical examiner shows Wades fatal wounds were probably self-inflicted.
Neighbors living near Wades Knapp Avenue residence say police have responded to domestic disturbance incidents there in the past. Although cops have not ruled out the possibility a fourth persons involvement in the murders, they believe Wade is responsible for all of the deaths.
